Appointments

We provide a variety of appointments with General Practitioners (GPs), Nurses, Health Care Assistants (HCAs), Urgent Care Practitioners (UCPs), and Specialist Practitioners to address your specific healthcare needs.

Urgent Appointments

For immediate assistance, call 01746 767121 starting at 8:30 am to schedule an urgent appointment.

We provide daily on-the-day urgent care appointments for patients with immediate medical needs. These appointments are managed by either an Urgent Care Practitioner (UCP) or a General Practitioner (GP).

Additionally, a designated GP is available every day to address emergencies.

GP Appointments

Schedule non-urgent or routine appointments through the *NHS App, call 01746 767121 (preferably after 9:00 am), or visit the practice in person.

Our GP appointment system distinguishes between urgent and routine issues to ensure appropriate care. Routine GP appointments, available up to 7 days in advance, can be booked through the NHS app, other online services, by phone, or in-person at the practice. These appointments address non-urgent problems or conditions.

*Registration is required for using the NHS App; for more information, click here.

Cancel an Appointment

If you can't make your appointment, kindly cancel at your earliest convenience to allow another patient to benefit.

To cancel, call 01746 767121, select option 1, then option 2, and leave a message with:

  • Patient's name
  • Patient's date of birth
  • Date and time of the appointment

Appointments can also be cancelled via online services such as the NHS app.

Home Visits

While we encourage patients to visit the surgery for access to proper equipment and facilities, we understand it may not always be feasible. If a home visit is necessary, please contact reception before 10:30.

Home visits are reserved for those who are housebound or too unwell to come to the practice. When requesting a home visit, provide your name, telephone number, and a brief symptom description. This information will be relayed to the on-call GP, who may contact you for further details to assess the urgency and determine the most appropriate action.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Role of Reception

The receptionist's inquiry about the reason for your visit is not intrusive. It is a standard practice endorsed by the GPs to ensure you receive:

1. The most suitable medical attention,
2. From the most appropriate healthcare professional,
3. At the most opportune time.

This helps in:

  • Prioritising home visits and phone calls for doctors.
  • Ensuring all patients receive the right level of care.
  • Directing patients to nurses or other healthcare professionals when appropriate.

Receptionists adhere to strict confidentiality rules:

  • Any information shared is treated confidentially.
  • Breaches of confidentiality are taken seriously and dealt with accordingly.

You can request a private conversation with a receptionist away from the front desk if needed. If your matter is highly private, and you prefer not to disclose details, your privacy will be respected.

Extended Access

Appointments will be accessible beyond the standard practice hours, extending from 8 am to 6:30 pm on weekdays and on Saturdays through an Enhanced Access Service.

  • Extended Access Hours: Primary Care Networks will offer appointments on weekday evenings (6:30 pm to 8 pm) and Saturdays. Appointments can be pre-booked, made 'on the day,' or booked via NHS 111.
  • Service Locations: Practices within the South East Shropshire Primary Care Network, including locations like Albrighton, Bridgnorth, Broseley, Brown Clee, Cleobury Mortimer, Highley, and Ironbridge, will provide additional appointments, subject to availability.
  • Booking Process: Patients can book these appointments by contacting their usual GP practice.

Things That Remain Unchanged:

  • Overall Service Hours: The total hours dedicated to patient care will remain consistent.
  • Face-to-Face Appointments: The locations for face-to-face appointments will remain convenient for patients.
  • Appointment Variety: Both face-to-face and remote (telephone, video, online) appointments will be available, offering options for pre-booking and same-day appointments. GPs and Practice Nurses will continue to be available, along with other healthcare roles.

Notable Differences:

  • Operating Hours: The new schedule does not include services on Saturday evenings (5 pm–8 pm), Sundays, or bank holidays. Services will be available Monday to Saturday only.
  • Focus on Pre-bookable Appointments: There will be an increased emphasis on pre-bookable appointments, facilitating planned care for regular monitoring of long-term conditions, immunizations, or screenings.
  • System Access: PCNs will ensure that practices and the PCN have the capability to manage appointments, referrals, tests, and patient records.
